Suffolk DA seeks teens for Youth Advisory Council

Suffolk County prosecutors are looking to hear students’ voices on a new Youth Advisory Council. Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said his office is recruiting incoming high school sophomores and juniors from Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop for the 21-member council. The Youth Advisory Council will meet regularly with Conley, members of his senior staff, and other adult volunteers, and identify important issues, make policy recommendations, and testify on legislative initiatives, according to the statement. The council will focus on gun violence, dating violence, and substance abuse, but students are encouraged to explore other topics. Academic credit may be available, prosecutors said. Applications are available online and must be submitted by May 23.
