Police searching for suspects who beat man in Brighton

Boston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men who inflicted life-threatening head injuries on another man in an attack in Brighton early Saturday morning.

The victim and a friend were walking near 1350 Commonwealth Ave. around 12:38 a.m. Saturday when the two men “jumped and attacked’’ the victim, police said. Investigators had no motive for the assault.

Police described the two two men as black males, about 6 feet tall, with medium builds. One suspect was wearing a dark blue, hooded sweatshirt; the other wore a “burnt red” T-shirt and a red hat with the letter “C”on it. Police said the hat might be a Cincinnati Reds hat.

The victim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where his condition deteriorated to the point that he is being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 617-343-4470. Anonymous tips can also be made at the CrimeStoppers Tip Line, 1-800-494-TIPS, or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463), police said.
