Police find $57,000 in car of man accused of DUI

State Police say troopers seized just over $57,000 in cash from a car driven by a man who was allegedly under the influence of drugs, authorities said.

John McMahon Jr. was driving west on Route 25 in Bourne at about 5 p.m. Wednesday when he allegedly committed a motor vehicle infraction that was spotted by Trooper Russell Patenaude.

After Patenaude stopped McMahon’s car, a search discovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia – and the stash of cash, State Police said in a statement.

McMahon, 29, is to be arraigned today in Falmouth District Court on charges of drugged driving, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and a marked lanes violation, State Police said.
