Car drives through wall at West Roxbury VA hospital

A car drove through a wall into the Veterans Administration hospital building in West Roxbury this afternoon, but no one was seriously injured, the Boston Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded at 12:25 p.m. to the hospital at 14oo VFW Parkway, the department said in an official tweet.

The Lexus sedan drove into a mechanical room, the department said in an update this afternoon. It had originally reported that the drove into the emergency room.

Pictures released by the department showed the car resting halfway inside the building.

The driver, an elderly male, was checked out in the hospital’s emergency room.

The commander at the scene reported that there appeared to be no structural damage.

Just before 1 p.m., the department tweeted that a district chief was to remain at the scene to wait for a city building inspector, while all other fire companies were leaving.
