One dead in New Bedford shooting, another injured

A New Bedford man is dead and another man was in critical condition after a shooting in New Bedford on Friday night, according to the Bristol district attorney’s office. Police, responding to a report of shots fired in the area of 125 Collette St., arrived at 9:20 p.m. and found Daniel Smith, 20, dead outside the home. A 25-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital and was in critical condition Saturday morning, according to Gregg Miliote, communications director for the Bristol district attorney’s office. State Police and New Bedford police are investigating, said Miliote.
