Today should be cool and dry, though cloudy skies and rain are expected to return for the rest of the week, forecasters said.
“The western part of the state may see some light showers today, but Eastern Massachusetts will have the best weather,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Alan Dunham.
Skies should be partly sunny today, with high temperatures at a below-average 66 degrees in Boston and in the low 70s in the interior. Some clouds should roll in during the evening as low temperatures sink into the 50s.
Gloomy weather will return Thursday, though high temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s.
“The best chance of showers will be in the late afternoon and into Thursday night,” Dunham said. Skies should become cloudy overnight as temperatures drop into the 60s.
The week will end on a drizzly note, with cloudy skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
“There may be some heavier showers, and it will feel more humid Friday,” Dunham said.
High temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s. Cloudy skies should persist through the evening as low temperatures sink into the 60s.
