Driver cited after truck scrapes ceiling of O’Neill Tunnel

The driver of a tractor-trailer that scraped the ceiling of the O’Neill Tunnel in Boston Sunday night was cited today by State Police.

The 48-year-old man from Milford, Conn., was cited for driving an “overheight truck,” State Police said today in a statement.

The man, whose name has not been released, was driving southbound on Interstate 93 when the roof of his trailer scraped against the tunnel’s ceiling at 9:07 p.m.

State Police closed the right lane of traffic in order to remove the vehicle from where it was stuck at the 16.9 mile marker. Inspectors from the state Department of Transportation evaluated the ceiling before reopening the lane at 9:47 p.m., State Police said.

The truck was owned by I Trans Auto of Nevada.
