Cape teacher suspended after allegations of bullying a preschooler

A teacher at Centerville Elementary School was placed on administrative leave after being accused of bullying a preschooler, the school said in a statement.

Earlier this month, the school received reports that a teacher was displaying “bullying-like behavior,” in a preschool classroom. The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave. Barnstable police and the Department of Children and Families were notified, the statement said.

The school will complete a thorough investigation of the allegations. A substitute teacher will replace the removed educator for the remainder of the school year.

“Our goal is to determine the facts as quickly as possible and either clear the teacher of the allegations and return the teacher to the classroom, or take other appropriate action,” Barnstable Superintendent Mary Czajkowski said in a statement.
