Planning to drive into Boston late tonight on the Massachusetts Turnpike?

Don’t.

The state Department of Transportation says the Pike eastbound will be reduced to a single travel lane inside the Prudential tunnel, through Boston. The Exit 22 ramp to Copley Square will be closed and all traffic will be detoured off at Exit 24.

The lane will be closed at 11 p.m. and stay closed until 5 a.m. Wednesday. The closure is for maintenance, including power washing signs, ceilings, and walls, the department said.

The department encouraged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Those traveling through the area should expect delays and reduce speed while traveling along the detour route, the department said.
