Waltham police seek masked man in attempted sexual assault

Waltham police are searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman while carrying a knife and wearing a mask on Saturday night.

A 36-year-old woman was restocking the concession stand at Lazazzero field about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, when, she said, a man approached her from behind. The man ordered her to “take off everything,” according to Sergeant Detective Joe Guigno.

The woman said he was carrying a black, 8-inch long knife. She was able to run past the man, toward the street, where she struck the fire alarm. The man then ran away, Guigno said.

Police could not locate the suspect, but continue to search for him.

Police asked anyone with information to contact the Waltham police at 781-314-3600.
