Walpole teen falls off roof of elementary school

A Walpole teenager was injured Thursday night after he fell off the roof of an elementary school he and his friends had climbed on a dare, police said.

A group of seven teenage boys climbed onto the roof of the Fisher School late Thursday night. Police rushed to the scene about midnight and found that one boy, who police did not identify, had fallen 30 feet, according to Lieutenant Christopher Mackenzie.

The youth suffered face and head trauma and dislocated both of his elbows, Mackenzie said. He was taken to a hospital; his injuries are not considered life threatening, police said.

“They climbed it as a challenge,” Mackenzie said. “We think maybe he didn’t see there was no roof where he was stepping because it was dark.”

Officials expect to file charges against the teenagers. Two of them are minors, Mackenzie said.

Walpole school officials declined to comment.
