Four injured in head-on collision in Holbrook

Four people were injured after a head-on collision on South Franklin Street near Collins Road in Holbrook Sunday afternoon, police said.

The two-car accident occurred at 1:24 p.m., and an off-duty firefighter who was nearby helped the injured until paramedics arrived, police said.

One person was taken by helicopter to Tufts Medical Center, another was transported to South Shore Hospital, and two others were transported Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown Sunday night, said police, who did not identify the victims.

The accident shut down South Franklin Street, which is also referred to as Route 37, for more than four hours Sunday night, police said.
