Ball was flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston by medical evacuation helicopter, but succumbed to his injuries, district attorney’s spokesman David Traub said in a statement.

Ball was driving a blue Oldsmobile on the wrong side of the center line when his vehicle collided with a gray Honda Civic, officials said.

A woman who was riding in Ball’s car was injured in the crash and a married couple in the Civic, a man and a woman, were also injured. All three were taken to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Morrissey said in the statement.

All four victims involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to Traub.
