Holbrook man identified as person killed on Sunday

A 55-year-0ld Holbrook man was identified today as the person who was fatally injured in a two-car crash Sunday in Holbrook.

Robert Ball was driving one of the two cars in the crash that occurred around 1:20 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of South Franklin Street (Route 37) and Collins Road, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey’s office.

Ball was flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston by medical evacuation helicopter, but succumbed to his injuries, district attorney’s spokesman David Traub said in a statement.


Ball was driving a blue Oldsmobile on the wrong side of the center line when his vehicle collided with a gray Honda Civic, officials said.

A woman who was riding in Ball’s car was injured in the crash and a married couple in the Civic, a man and a woman, were also injured. All three were taken to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Morrissey said in the statement.

All four victims involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to Traub.
