Landscaper taken to hospital after lawn mower accident

A landscaper was taken to the hospital after being injured by the lawn mower he was operating, Westborough fire officials said this afternoon.

The landscaper, who was not identified, was working in the wooded area behind Stagecoach Plaza on a stand-behind lawn mower, which most likely tipped over when he hit an unexpected incline, said Fire Captain Robert Rand, who responded to the scene.

“I’m not sure about the exact circumstances, but it looks like the incline he was on may have contributed to the incident,” Rand said.

Rand said the landscaper who was injured was the only one on there when the fire department responded to the incident. No foul play is suspected.

The landscaper was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, Rand said. He did not know the status of the man’s injuries.
