Former Truro police chief arrested on OUI charges

A former Truro police chief was arrested in Barnstable Thursday on charges of driving drunk with his young child in the car, police said.

According to Barnstable police, John Lundborn, 46, of Hyannis, was seen driving erratically through the McDonald’s parking lot on North Street at 2:10 p.m. Lundborn was driving a black SUV, Barnstable police said in a statement. The child, whose age and gender were not released, was picked up by a family friend, according to police.

Lundborn is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court on charges of operating under the influence, child endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle with an open container, the statement said.

Lundborn was put on administrative leave as Truro police chief in 2011 after crashing his police cruiser while intoxicated, according to a Globe story written at the time. He resigned weeks later.
