Pedestrian struck, killed on Expressway in Boston

BOSTON (AP) — Police say a pedestrian apparently trying to cross the southbound lanes of the Expressway in Boston has been struck and killed.

State police say the person was struck crossing Interstate 93 near the South Bay Shopping Center in Dorchester at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the SUV that hit the victim was taken to Boston Medical Center.

Police are still trying to identify the victim and determine why they were on the highway.

The death remains under investigation.
