Car fire stops traffic on Mass. Pike near Prudential tunnel

A car fire shut down all three lanes east of the Prudential Tunnel on the Massachusetts Turnpike eastbound this afternoon, officials said.

State Police responded to the car fire at about 12:20 p.m., said Trooper Nicole Morell. All lanes have since been cleared, she said.

No injuries were reported, and there are currently minimal traffic delays, Morel said.

The state Department of Transportation and Boston firefighters responded to the scene to extinguish the fire, according to a tweet by State Police.
