Mosquito spraying scheduled in Hyde Park for Monday at dusk

Summer brings mosquito sprayings.

The Boston Public Health Commission announced that certain areas of Hyde Park will be sprayed to help control mosquito population on Monday.

The areas near Dale, Deforest, and Austin streets, as well as Gordon Avenue will undergo the spraying, which is expected to begin at dusk Monday and last until about 11:30 p.m., said the agency.

The commission said that if the spraying is postponed for any reason, including inclement weather, it will be conducted Tuesday.

Residents in spray zones should close windows that face the streets to minimize exposure to the chemicals. People are also advised to go indoors for a few minutes if they see a spray truck on the street to allow the spray to dissipate, the agency said.
