Car crashes through guardrail, lands upside-down on Route 1

A vehicle traveling on Route 129 in Lynnfield crashed through a guardrail this morning and landed on Route 1, said State Police.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was taken to North Shore Medical Center in Lynn, according to a press release. Route 1 North was closed for a short time for the investigation and cleanup. The driver’s name is not being released because he is a juvenile.

The cause of the accident and severity of the driver’s injuries were not known, but the driver was issued a motor vehicle citation for a marked lanes violation. MassDOT, Lynnfield firefighters, and Lynnfield EMS workers also responded to the scene. The accident is currently under investigation by State Police.
