Woman sexually assaulted by man on bike in Cambridge

Cambridge police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman Tuesday night in the Fresh Pond Reservation, approaching her on a black BMX bike with his face covered by a mask.

Police said the woman was walking on a path across from the 600 block of Concord Avenue around 8 p.m. Tuesday. She later told police the suspect approached her while on his BMX bike, staring at her “in a way that made her feel uncomfortable,’’ police said in a community alert.

The suspect rode past the woman, apparently pulled a mask down over his face, and then rode back towards her.

“The male then rode up along side of her and indecently touched her,’’ police said. “The victim observed that this male was now wearing a black ski mask.’’

The woman ran up the path and onto Concord Avenue with the man, who had fallen off his bike, in pursuit. The man turned around, jumped on the bike and rode away, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white man between the age of 20 and 25.

Police asked anyone with information to contact them at 617-349-3370.
