Sunny skies and moderate temperatures will carry through the weekend and into early next week, the National Weather Service said.
“Saturday’s going to be the better of the two [weekend] days, that’s without a doubt,” said Alan Dunham, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Today the region can expect clear, sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. Tonight the skies will likely stay clear while temperatures fall to the low 60s.
Saturday will be “an absolutely gorgeous day,” said Dunham. The sun will likely be out again for the duration of the day, with comfortable temperatures in the upper 70s.
Sunday will bring “a little more in the way of clouds ... we’ll have to watch that forecast a little more,” Dunham said. For now, the weather service is calling for partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid-70s.
“Right now, it’s looking like precipitation should stay south and east of the Greater Boston area,” Dunham said. Nantucket has the greatest chance of showers during the day.
Western Massachusetts “should be in pretty good shape,” with “a little more sunshine than Boston.”
Early next week is expected to be dry as well, Dunham said.
“Mostly sunny skies for Monday and Tuesday,” he said, “and a little more humid.”Kiera Blessing can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
