Man, 64, stabbed with butcher knife inside his Bourne home

A 64-year-old man was stabbed four times with a butcher knife in his Bourne home this morning, officials said.

The Bourne Fire Department responded to the residence on Ships View Terrace at 9:15 a.m., said Bourne Fire Lieutenant Greg Edgcomb.

The man was stabbed in the chest and abdomen and was in critical condition, Edgcomb said.

He was transported by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence at about 10 a.m.

The cause of the stabbing and identity of the attacker were not immediately available. The incident is under investigation by Bourne police, officials said.
