Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Swansea

A 32-year-old man was killed after being struck by a car Tuesday night on Interstate 195 in Swansea, officials said.

Jason Luciano of Swansea was struck by an 18-year-old driver from Rhode Island in the eastbound lane of the highway at 11:55 p.m.,State Police said in a statement.


Luciano was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died. The driver and two passengers were not injured in the crash, the release said.

No charges have been brought against the driver at this time. It was unclear why the pedestrian was on the highway, State Police said.

The incident is under investigation by State Police and Swansea EMS.
