Mass. man dies after slipping while fishing in R.I.

A 57-year-old Massachusetts man apparently drowned off the coast of Jamestown, R.I., Wednesday morning when he slipped while fishing, officials said.

Hok Ly of Lowell appears to have slipped and fallen from some rocks while fishing with a friend in Beavertail State Park at about 7:15 a.m., police said in a statement. His body was found in the water a short time later by authorities.

Police said the surf in the area was rough Wednesday morning.

The incident is under investigation by Jamestown police.
