Nine people hurt in four-car crash

Nine people were taken to two hospitals after four vehicles collided in Leominster, blocking traffic for hours, officials said.

The four cars crashed at 590 Lancaster St. at 3:45 p.m., according to Leominster Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Kirouac. Six victims were transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and three others were taken to Leominster Hospital.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries, two suffered serious injuries, and the rest were considered minor. The names and ages of the victims were not released.

By 10:30 p.m., the road was reopened, Kirouac said. It was not yet clear if anyone would be charged. Leominster police declined to comment.
