Motoryclist killed in Freetown crash

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Route 140 in Freetown this morning, officials said.

A 53-year-old woman from North Dartmouth apparently lost control of a modified four-wheeled motorcycle and crashed at the Washburn Road overpass this morning at about 10:15 a.m., State Police said in a statement. Why she lost control is under investigation.

The woman was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

No other vehicles were involved, police said. The right lane of Route 140 North remains closed as the investigation by State Police and the Bristol County district attorney’s office continues.
