Puppy rescued after falling off boat in Hingham Harbor

One doggone lucky pup was rescued from Hingham Harbor after falling off his family’s boat Saturday, officials said.

The family didn’t realize the small, black, 3-month-old Shih Tzu had disappeared for some time, said Ken Corson, the Hingham harbormaster. They called for help and returned to look for him when they realized he was missing.

Hingham, Hull, and Weymouth harbormasters aided in the search and put out messages about the missing pup on social media sites like Twitter, Corson said.

After a bit of searching, another recreational boat called to say they had found the puppy dog-paddling in the water and retrieved him, Corson said. He was soon reunited with his family.
