Man’s body found in area where shots were heard

Police are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in an area where gunshots were heard early Sunday morning in New Bedford, according to a statement from Bristol District Attorney Sam Sutter. Police responded to the sound of gunshots around Weld Square around 2 a.m. and found the body of an unidentified man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No other information was available Sunday afternoon. New Bedford and State Police are investigating. Anyone with information about the incident may contact New Bedford Police at 508-991-6300.
