A man was cited for boating under the influence in Massachusetts Bay near Nantasket Beach late Sunday night, the Coast Guard said. The Coast Guard at Station Point Allerton received notification of a 12-foot Boston whaler disabled and adrift at 11 p.m. On scene, the Coast Guard noticed the boat operator appeared intoxicated. The Coast Guard towed the disabled boat to Hull, where Hull police conducted a field sobriety test and confirmed the operator was intoxicated. He was issued a civil citation, according to the Coast Guard, which did not release the man’s name. Hull police arranged for a family member to pick up the remaining three boat passengers. Operating a boat while intoxicated is illegal, just as driving while intoxicated is.
