A 25-foot minke whale was found dead near Truro on Monday, officials said. It was the second time in eight days a minke whale has been found dead on the Cape Cod coast. The whale’s death may have been the result of an injury, but the cause is not clear, said Kerry Branon, spokeswoman for the International Fund for Animal Welfare. The animal welfare group is preparing a plan to conduct a necropsy, Branon said, although it is not clear where it will be happen. Sometimes necropsies are performed where the whales are found, in part because of their size. The whale was found in distress Sunday afternoon and died overnight. An 18-foot minke whale was found dead in Barnstable Harbor on Aug. 10.
