Carjacker targets 90-year-old man in Saugus

A carjacker targeted a 90-year-old Saugus man this morning outside a grocery store in Saugus, officials said.

The carjacking was reported at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Main Street at about 8 a.m., Saugus police said in a statement.

Police arriving at the scene found the elderly man bleeding on the sidewalk, police said. The man was apparently grocery shopping when the suspect attacked him and stole his brown 2001 Ford Focus.

The victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, and he declined transportation to the hospital, police said. Instead, a Saugus police officer drove him to a relative's house.
