Man dies after being hit by car on Memorial Drive

A fatal car crash on Memorial Drive this morning closed the eastbound side of the highway near the Massachusetts Avenue underpass for about two hours, State Police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a car operated by a 24-year-old Brighton man struck a 50-year-old man from Boston at 7 a.m., State Police said. Troopers are investigating why the vehicle struck and killed the pedestrian.


The victim was was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

State Police have not released the names of the driver or the victim.

Multiple State Police units, including crash investigators and forensic specialists, were called to the scene.
