The Salem Police dive team recovered a body from Spring Pond on Sunday after a passerby found clothing abandoned in the area, police said. The victim, whose name, age, and residence were not identified, was released to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to a statement from Peabody police. Foul play is not suspected. On Saturday the victim’s family told police that items considered “out of character” were left behind by the victim earlier in the day, according to the statement. Peabody police and the Essex district attorney’s office are investigating the incident. No further information was available late Sunday.
