Swansea man charged after woman found shot to death

A 56-year-old Swansea man was arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting of a woman early Sunday morning, prosecutors said. Timothy R. Levesque is slated to be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Monday morning, according to Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office. Levesque was also charged with assault and battery. Police responding to reports of shots fired in the area found Melissa J. White with gunshot wounds to her chest on Ocean Grove Avenue in Swansea at 1:35 a.m., Sutter’s office said in a prepared statement. White, 23, also of Swansea, was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. An autopsy is scheduled.
