Double rollover crash snarls traffic on I-495

Traffic was brought to a near standstill on Interstate 495 this morning when a two-car rollover crash blocked all three northbound lanes, State Police said.

The accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m., said Nicole Morrell, a State Police spokeswoman. The rollovers blocked the highway near Exit 17 in Franklin. The three northbound lanes were closed for about an hour.

One person involved in the crash was taken to Milford Hospital, Morrell said, with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Traffic was able to crawl through the single breakdown lane during the cleanup, but the morning commute was severely affected. Morrell said there may still be residual delays.
