Police search for suspect in attack on NU student

Northeastern University issued a public safety alert after a student was assaulted near the Wentworth Institute of Technology’s campus on Huntington Avenue early this morning.

The student was walking alone at about 5 a.m. when she was grabbed around the neck and dragged down an alley next to 578 Huntington Ave., the university said in the alert. She screamed, alerting nearby security officers and causing the suspect to flee.

The student described the suspect as 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 180 pounds, and in his mid-20s. She said he was clean-shaven, with a slim, muscular build, wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.

Northeastern University police and Boston police are investigating the assault.
