Massachusetts is still digesting the news that Wynn Resorts has been selected as the sole casino operator in the Boston area, a selection that became final Wednesday morning as state regulators formally approved the group’s license to operate in Everett.

As the plan continues to take shape, readers have sent in many questions about what it might look like. Globe reporter Mark Arsenault has answered some of the inquiries left for us in comments and on Facebook and Twitter.

What’s the earliest the casino could open?

The Wynn team is aiming for late 2017. Construction should take about 3 years, and will begin as soon as the project completes local and state permitting. A date for groundbreaking is a little unclear because it is not known yet how long permitting will take.

What jobs will be available and when?

The resort will have thousands of blue and white collar jobs, similar to what a large hotel and retail complex would have, with the additional aspect of jobs related to the casino, such as dealers, cashiers and security people. It will create thousands of construction jobs.

How will the $20 million Wynn has pledged to alleviate the traffic problems in Sullivan Square be spent?

Wynn is required to complete short term improvements to Sullivan Square before the casino opens, which would be about $6 million in work. The developer has pledged $25 million to a long-term reconstruction of the intersection, which is expected to cost $100 million or more.

Wynn has agreed to a traffic reduction plan and to pay fines for casino traffic through Sullivan Square above certain targets, as an incentive for the developer to encourage patrons to use public transportation. Those fines are capped at $20 million over 10 years. That money could also go to the long term fix for the intersection.

Is the land safe?

Wynn has hired experts to develop a plan to clean pollution in the soil. The state gambling commission is confident that Wynn’s plan to clean the land is workable.

Who is Steve Wynn?

One of the most successful casino operators in the world, whose hotels have redefined the Las Vegas strip. He built the Mirage, Bellagio, Treasure Island, and the Wynn and Encore resorts in Vegas, and has a large casino complex in China.

What will be depicted on the chips?

Beyond the denomination? Probably the Wynn “W” symbol, but that is just a guess.
