Governor Lincoln Chafee has declared November ‘‘Epilepsy Awareness Month’’ in Rhode Island. The Democrat joined representatives of The Matty Fund at the State House on Wednesday to help raise awareness of the brain disorder, which causes seizures. Epilepsy Awareness Month is recognized across the country each November. The fund said nearly 200,000 people are diagnosed with epilepsy in the US each year. It is named for Matthew Siravo, who died from epilepsy in 2003. The Matty Fund’s executive director said it is grateful for Chafee’s support of children and families affected by epilepsy. (AP)
