Bystanders kicked in windows to help passengers out of a smoke-filled Red-Line train at Quincy Station Thursday morning, according to witnesses.
The evacuation, which officials said was linked to a failure in the train’s propulsion system, took place around 7:20 a.m. and caused severe delays on the MBTA line.
