Sea Dogs dedicate seat to POWs

The Portland Sea Dogs are honoring prisoners of war with a special seat in the stands. The minor league baseball team last week dedicated a chair behind third base to all prisoners of war and military personnel missing in action. Officials say the chair will remain empty as a reminder that there’s always a spot for them. General Manager Geoff Iacuessa said the chair is ‘‘a terrific way for us to honor all those who have served in the military.’’ A 91-year-old former POW from Sanford threw out the first pitch at the game in which the chair was dedicated.
