Letter carrier assaulted by teenagers in Dorchester

US Postal Service officials are looking for three teenagers believed to have assaulted a letter carrier on Tuesday in Dorchester.

The assault took place at Windermere Road and Cushing Avenue, across from St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children, according to US postal inspectors, who are investigating the attack.

The suspects in the case are four males between 17 and 19 years old and a female around the same age, inspectors said.

Assaulting a postal employee is a federal offense and can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, the inspection service said. Officials asked anybody with information to call the US Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455 (press 2) or Boston police at 617-343-4335.
