Sloop Fancy Free from Beverly was in a sticky situation Tuesday in Gloucester.

The vessel got stuck on a Wingaersheek Beach sandbar near the mouth of the Annisquam River.

And it will not be able to move until the next high tide, which is scheduled for 4:21 a.m. on Wednesday.

An official at the harbormaster’s office, who would not be identified, said this type of situation happens “about once or twice a week,” because of the shallow channel and build up of sand that washes down from such places as Plum Island in Newburyport.
