Teen charged with possession of loaded revolver near Caribbean Festival

Police on Saturday arrested a 14-year-old who allegedly had a loaded .38-caliber Colt police revolver near the Caribbean Festival in Dorchester.

Officers were monitoring the festival at around 5 p.m. when they saw a group of people near 28 Supple Road, Boston police said in a statement. Some of the people were known gang members, according to police.

The officers approached the group and began talking to them when they discovered the revolver, police said. The youth had allegedly hidden the gun under a bucket and tried to run away when police found the gun.

He was taken into custody after “a brief struggle,” police said.
