A construction worker was killed Thursday in an apparent workplace accident in Georgetown, a spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney’s office said.
The man, an employee at Mirra Co., Inc., was fatally injured while backing a large construction vehicle out of a garage at the company headquarters on Norino Way, according to Carrie Kimball Monahanspokeswoman for the district attorney.
Georgetown police and fire responded to the 911 call at around 4:30 p.m., Kimball Monahan said.
The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, she added.
The Essex District Attorney’s office has opened an investigation into the incident, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, Kimball Monahan said.
