Don’t worry if you’ve misplaced your sunglasses. You won’t be needing them for a while.
After a gloomy, overcast day Wednesday, forecasters are calling for a lot more of the same for the next several days.
The cloudy conditions in the region are expected to be coupled with cool temperatures and some rain, meteorologists said.
“Onshore winds will bring spotty light rain along with patchy drizzle and fog across southeast New England through midday, with a brief break [Thursday] afternoon,” forecasters from the National Weather Service bureau in Taunton wrote in an update Thursday morning.
There should be measurable rainfall between Friday and Saturday, but not much toward helping get us out of this drought. Forecasters said it remains uncertain if rainfall totals will even top an inch. Higher rain totals are expected on the Cape and the islands and may reach southern portions of the region.

After that, expect damp, raw weather through at least the first half of the weekend.
“A low pressure wave will pass south of the region, bringing cloudy, cool conditions with showers Friday through Saturday which may linger into Sunday,” forecasters said.
There may be a break on Sunday and into the early part of next week, though meteorologists said they cannot rule out a chance of showers for that stretch, either.
Local forecasters also say they are monitoring the best-named storm of the season.
Tropical Storm Matthew is expected to become a hurricane as it makes its way over the Caribbean.
“Most model guidance suggests this system will remain south of our region through Wednesday of next week,” forecasters wrote. But, officials added, they “will have to keep a close eye,” on the storm.
