Forecasters at the National Weather Service have a word for the Wednesday morning commute: Messy.
Amid rain and snow, the drive into Boston from the suburbs is a slow one for commuters north and south of the city. MassDOT deployed 434 pieces of snow removal equipment in central and Western Massachusetts around 7:03 a.m.
On the MBTA, passengers on the Fitchburg commuter rail line will be frustrated after the T canceled two trains during the morning commute. All other rail services are on schedule around 7:01 a.m.
On the Southeast Expressway, the drive between the Route 18 interchange in Weymouth on Route 3 to ramps in South Boston was taking about 45 minutes around 6:50 a.m., according to mass511.com.

On Interstate 93 north of the city, the drive from Burlington to Somerville was at speeds below 40 miles an hour, creating a 33-minute travel time around 6:58 a.m., according to MassDOT’s live traffic map.
The best ride is for those using the Massachusetts Turnpike from the western suburbs where drivers are seeing a mostly speed-limit ride around 7:10 a.m, according to MassDOT.
Crashes were reported on Route 128 in Burlington and on Interstate 495 in Lowell, where a truck has spilled its load onto the highway.
