Mother charged with stabbing 16-month-old daughter

A “despondent” mother allegedly stabbed her 16-month old daughter in the back with a knife Wednesday night and is now under arrest, according to Manchester, N.H. police.

The mother was identified as Evansgina Audy, 29, who is currently charged with second degree assault, police said in a statement.

Police said they responded to the Audy family home on Candia Road around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. “Her husband awoke to a bleeding toddler and a despondent wife,’’ police said in a statement. “He soon realized what had transpired, so he immediately contacted police.’’

The husband was identified as William Audy.

The parents were interviewed by police while paramedics treated the daughter. She was rushed to Elliot Hospital “for serious, but non-life threatening injury to her back.”

A knife was located nearby and taken as evidence by police.

The mother is scheduled to appear in a Manchester court Thursday.
