Summer is taking a back seat this week as temperatures dip.
Sunday reached a peak of 77 degrees, with an overnight low projected at 62, and most of the rest of the week will be even cooler.
Monday is predicted to be cool and rainy, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation— mostly in scattered showers — and a high of only 68 degrees.
“The nature of showers, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact [location], but it could be pretty widespread,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Simpson.
Similar mild, rainy weather should continue through the first half of the week, with “a cool, kind of mostly cloudy period into Tuesday,” Simpson said.

Tuesday’s high is forecast at 68 degrees, with an overnight low dipping to 58. Simpson said the colder weather is unusual for this time of year.
“Normal high is 82 in Greater Boston,” Simpson said.
As the clouds clear away Wednesday, temperatures are expected to rise, but not much. Wednesday’s predicted high is 76 degrees, and Thursday’s high, 80.
The end of the week may see a return to cool and rainy weather, with showers predicted for Friday and Saturday and temperatures peaking in the high 70s.
“We have none of last week’s heat in sight, so even though it warms a little bit, it’ll still be cooler than normal,” Simpson said.
