Scott Brown gets drum kit from KISS, hangs with Deep Purple dude

Call him the rock ‘n roll diplomat.

Former US Senator Scott Brown spends a lot of time in his current post as ambassador to New Zealand meeting with heads of state to discuss critical trade partnerships, cultural exchanges, and global security threats.

But he also nurtures his passion for music, and a very special item just came in the mail for the rockin’ Republican.

Brown took to Twitter on Thursday, posting a picture of himself next to guitars and a drum kit - but not just any drum kit.

Do the drums come with any of the band’s signature face paint? That wasn’t immediately clear. The gift came a couple of days after Brown chilled with Deep Purple legend Glenn Hughes.

Brown, of course has known his own challenges and successes during an unconventional political career. He was a little known state Senator from Wrentham when he shocked the Massachusetts political establishment by defeating Democrat Martha Coakley in a 2010 special election to fill the US Senate seat left vacant after Ted Kennedy’s death.

He lost his re-election bid to Elizabeth Warren but was nominated to his current post by President Trump after stumping hard for him during the 2016 election.
