The 4-year-old girl struck and killed by a Comcast utility truck in Holbrook was identified Sunday as Savannah Curran, the Norfolk district attorney’s office said.
The girl lived on Fargo Road, where State Police responded Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. to assist Holbrook police with a report of a crash, State Police spokesman David Procopio said in an e-mail.
The child apparently ran into the street before she was struck, according to Holbrook police.
“It’s still under investigation but I can tell you she was running out in the street,” Holbrook Police Chief William Smith told reporters at the scene Saturday.
The girl died of her injuries at South Shore Hospital, he said.
The driver of the truck stayed on the scene after the crash and spoke with police, said David Traub, a spokemsman for the DA’s office.
Marc Goodman, a Comcast spokesman, said the company is “fully cooperating with local authorities.”
Troopers from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, the Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County responded to the scene, Procopio said.
The crash remains under investigation.Lucas Phillips can be reached at email@example.com. Jacob Carozza can be reached firstname.lastname@example.org.
